Here I go! Every summer, for one weekend, swarms of writers travel to Lancaster for Hippocampus Magazine’s annual conference on creative nonfiction. Exciting? You bet. This year the schedule of events and presenters is great, the number of writers attending is over two hundred, and I am happy to say that Rosemont College’s MA in Publishing and MFA in Creative Writing programs are sponsoring the weekend. It’s an honor. It’s a treat.
It’s also a great number of boxes packed into the back of my car. Beautiful freebies and packets of information about our programs are destined for our table in the exhibitor’s hall. I will be joined at our exhibition booth by current students Angelina Horst, Nancy Kotkin, and Yalonda Rice. I hope to run into other alumni and current students from the publishing and creative writing programs throughout the weekend. But it’s not all shaking hands and talking about Rosemont College. I will be presenting a talk on strategies that creative nonfiction writers can steal from poets in order to craft better essays.
There will be more posts from me about the conference throughout the week and weekend.
