Welcome back Ravens!

Joseph Pavlow - August 28, 2018

As the halcyon days of summer start to dwindle, I would like to welcome all of our faculty, staff, coaches, and, especially, the student-athletes, back to campus for, what I expect to be, an extremely exciting and successful season here at Roco for the 2018-2019 academic year.

Since I joined the College last March, it has been a whirlwind of activity here in the department. We have ushered in a new era with a number of new faces on the coaching staff, and welcomed Ashley Hodges as the new assistant athletic director. Final plans have been underway to unveil the new and improved Colonial States Athletic Conference with 2 members joining this year (Wilson and Bryn Athyn) and the College of Saint Elizabeth set to join the league next year.

Last season, head golf coach John Manos led the Ravens on the links to our first ever Conference title on the men’s side when the golf team secured victory at Moselem Springs Golf Club, in Fleetwood, PA. Mike Lange then led the team into contention at the DIII National Championship Tournament in Greensboro, NC. For his efforts as an individual Mike finished 10th overall in North Carolina and was named Honorable Mention All-American, the first Raven to be awarded this distinction in recent history. Men’s and Women’s Basketball both made playoff appearances, while a few other teams made strides in the right direction.

As things currently stand in the CSAC, there is no reason we cannot compete and begin to win Conference championships every year. Our geographic “footprint” is one of the most athletically talented areas of the country. Our goal as a department is to focus on student-athlete experience and student-athlete development in the classroom, in the community, and in competition. As a department we strive to make the Rosemont campus community proud with success on the field and a style of play that focuses on competitiveness, grit, integrity and sportsmanship.

We are committed to out-working our competition and doing things the right way in order to be successful. Not only are we coaches, administrators, and staff; we are educators. While we strive to be successful on the field, we are preparing our young men and women for their years beyond the playing fields, providing them with the life lessons of preparation, teamwork, and dedication, that athletics teaches so well and arming them with traits that serve everyone throughout their life no matter their career path.

As a member of the Rosemont community I invite you to join us in celebrating and encouraging our student-athletes on and off of the field. Please join us at one of our athletic events, and feel free to invite your friends or family to join you. I hope to see you soon.

GO RAVENS!
