Ben McGinty '00 Awarded Honorary Degree

Katie DuBoff - May 19, 2021

Ben McGinty of Havertown, PA, was awarded an honorary doctorate of humane letters at Rosemont College’s Commencement ceremony on May 16.

A 1979 graduate of Saint Joseph’s University, Ben McGinty earned his MSM in Organizational Management from Rosemont College in 2000. Almost immediately, McGinty became an advocate and active volunteer for the College. He was elected to the Alumni Board of Directors in 2011 and has continued his service to the Board and the alumni community for many years. He also served as an active volunteer for Reflect/Renew/Rejoice: The Campaign for Rosemont College.

McGinty enjoyed a distinguished career in various management and leadership positions with Lockheed Martin Corporation (formerly GE Aerospace) from 1978 to 1998, and with Reed Technology and Information Services from 1998 to 2016. He retired from there in 2016 as the Senior Director of Business Development.

In addition to serving on alumni committees at Rosemont College, McGinty volunteers part time at the Gift of Life Family House, a non-profit charitable organization located in Philadelphia. The Family House serves as a “home away from home” for transplant patients and their families by providing temporary, affordable lodging, and supportive services to them while in Philadelphia for transplant-related care.

In retirement, McGinty enjoys spending time with his three adult children and seven grandchildren. His primary leisure activities are fishing, golfing, boating, and traveling.
