Career Services is dedicated to assisting Rosemont students and alumnae/i in all aspects of career development and planning. The Career Services Office offers many resources to assist in this process. Students and alumnae/i are encouraged to visit our office and staff members are available to answer specific questions. Appointments are recommended for consultation regarding career planning and advancement.

Career Services is located in Good Counsel Hall, Rooms 210 & 211.

Programs and Services


PROGRAMS:

ALUMNAE/I CAREER MENTORING PROGRAM
This program provides students and alumnae/i with the opportunity to make connections with alumnae/i in various career fields for the purpose of engaging in one or more mentoring activities.

INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
Internships provide undergraduate students with valuable experience in career fields they are considering. Internships may be taken during the school year or over the summer and may be taken for course credit. Listings of internship opportunities are available in the Career Services office. Students are asked to register with the office so that support and follow-up services may be given.

MOCK INTERVIEWING WITH ALUMNAE/I
This annual event is held in the spring to give students preparing to interview for jobs or internships the opportunity to conduct mock interviews with Rosemont alumnae/i mentoring program volunteers.


SERVICES:

CAREER LIBRARY
The Career Library includes employment publications and career files.

CREDENTIAL SERVICE
Seniors may create a credential file by completing the credential packet forms available in the Career Services Office and collecting letters of reference. These letters are sent out to prospective employers at the request of the student. The first five mailings are free. Each additional request includes a charge of $2.00.

FULL-TIME JOB LISTINGS
On-line listings through College Central Network (CCN) include full-time, part-time, summer jobs, internships, and co-ops. The job postings can be viewed in the Career Services Office.

INDIVIDUAL COUNSELING
Staff members in the Career Services Office will offer individual counseling sessions to help students with career planning, choosing a major, resume and interview preparation, job searches, internship opportunities, and graduate school plans.

PART-TIME, SUMMER, & CHILD CARE POSITIONS
Openings for part-time, summer, and child care positions are posted on the bulletin board outside the Career Services Office.

RESUME & COVER LETTER CRITIQUES

SCHOLARSHIP & FELLOWSHIP INFORMATION

SIGI PLUS
The System of Interactive Guidance and Information (SIGI) contains information about occupations, educational programs, and more. Students can examine and evaluate their present values, interests, and skills systematically by doing a number of self-assessment exercises. Discover what skills and preparation are required for various career fields and what types of professions meet a student's personal interests.

WORKSHOPS
The Career Services Office offers workshops on acquiring an internship, choosing a major course of study, learning job search techniques, planning for graduate school, resume preparation, and searching for a summer job.

Graduate Explorer is a component of the SIGI PLUS program, which can be accessed in the Career Services Office. It contains information on over 1,200 graduate schools offering master's, doctorate, and professional programs. Students can browse information on degrees, field of study, geographic location, financial aid, and tuition and fees.

Employment Resources

College Central Network (CCN)
CCN is an online, full-time and part-time job postings and resume database supplied by Rosemont College and seven other schools in the South Eastern Pennsylvania Consortium for Higher Education (SEPCHE).

Jobs Flash
The Jobs Flash Bulletin provides updated daily listings of full-time, part-time, and seasonal jobs, as well as co-ops and internships in the CCN database. Students can browse jobs here and then register or enter their resume at CCN (see above) to receive complete job listings.

FULL-TIME JOBS
Jobs are posted on bulletin boards and in binders at the Career Services Office.

PART-TIME JOBS
Jobs are posted on bulletin boards and in binders at the Career Services Office.

CHILD CARE JOBS
Child care jobs are listed in the Child Care Binder in the office and are posted on the Bulletin Board next to the door to the office. Each fall the office receives numerous requests for babysitters. These requests continue throughout the year with many opportunities available in the neighborhoods surrounding the college.
