2006-2007 Season Outlook
The Rosemont College lacrosse team has a tough road ahead of them for the 2007 season. Last year, the Ramblers graduated 7 seniors, 6 of whom were starters. They also were 6th overall in the conference and made it to the playoffs, losing to Neumann College in the first round. This year's squad has a lot to live up to in light of last year, but the girls are more than ready for the challenge.As a team last year, the Ramblers averaged 9 goals per game as well as notching 394 ground balls. The Ramblers return their two leading scorers from last year. Senior captains Heather Barrie (Narberth, Pa/Harriton) and Cecelia Saunders (Phoenixville, PA/Phoenixville) will look to lead a young squad this year. Saunders was a first team all conference selection last year while Barrie was an honorable mention. Saunders led the team and the conference in goals per game (4.0). Barrie was second in the team in scoring with 33 goals. Rounding out the returning players this year are juniors Kaitlin Hans (Albany, NY/Holy Name) and Meg Viola (Bryn Mawr, PA/Sacred Heart). Hans, a midfielder, had 21 goals and 24 ground balls last year. Viola, a midfielder, had 2 goals and 12 ground balls. The Ramblers will look to overcome the loss of the 7 seniors with a new crop of players. The Ramblers will begin their season on Thursday, March 1st against Arcadia. The game will be at Rosemont at 3:30pm. |
