2006-2007 Season Overview

The Rosemont College field hockey team ended their season with a tough loss to Hood College on October 15th. They ended their season 0-12 overall and 0-11 in the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC). Due to several season-ending injuries with recruits and returning players, the Ramblers began their season at a disadvantage. The team's make-up consisted of 7 new players and 5 returning player. Even though the Ramblers had many new players, they were still able to build on their successes throughout the season.

Senior captains Kelly Cione (Pottstown, PA/Pottstown) and Jennifer Wood (Philadelphia, PA/Archbishop Ryan) led the Ramblers this year. Cione racked up 238 saves on the year, placing her in the top ten saves for Division III. Cione also broke the 1000 mark on career saves. She ends her Rosemont career with 1017, the most in Rosemont history. Wood also stepped up this year becoming a key midfielder and a strong leader on the field.

Along with Cione and Wood, Rosemont brought back defensemen Bridget Cook (Pittsburg, PA/Aquinas Academy), midfielder Eilise Blessington (Holland, PA/Archbishop Wood), and forward Alexis Feyoudehappy (Jersey City, NJ/School of the Future). All three players, stepped up and became strong leaders on the team. Joining the team this year was sophomore Danielle Dinger (Bensalem, PA/Archbishop Ryan), and freshmen Liz Kemp (Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown), Laura Kyle (Doylestown, PA/CB East), Colleen Barret (Philadelphia, PA/Nazareth Academy), Disha Shah (East Meadow, NJ/East Meadow), Mary Kate Dugan (Upper Darby, PA/Upper Darby), and Alex Benfold (Cherry Hill, NJ/Bishop Eustace).

Dinger, having joined the team late in the season, became a key defenseman along with Cook. Both girls provided strong defense on the sides. Dugan stepped up in the high pressure center back position. As the season wore on, Dugan made the position her own and looked like a season veteran on the team. Kyle and Kemp proved to be a potent combo offensively working together to take the ball up the field throughout the season. These two will be looked upon to anchor the offense for next year's squad. The addition of Barret, Benfold, and Shah along with veteran forward Feyoudehappy made for a deep forward line.

Head coach Angela Hanna and assistant coach Jami Hughes returned for their second season. Both coaches feel that while the season may not be looked upon as successful on paper, they have made many strides and have a solid group of girls for next year's squad.
