2006-2007 Season Overview

Rosemont, PA - The Rosemont College Women's basketball team had a season of highs and lows. Senior captain Katie Linder (Philadelphia, PA/St. Basils) broke the all-time scoring record for Rosemont with a final total of 1429 points. Linder also had her highest scoring season of her four-year career at Rosemont with a total of 428 points. Senior captain Cecelia Saunders (Phoenixville, PA/Phoenixville) also made her mark breaking the all-time steals record for Rosemont. Saunders notched 227 steals in her four years also having her highest steals in a season this year with 86. Despite breaking huge records and having standout individual seasons, the Ramblers were unable to overcome many of their Pennsylvania Athletic Conference opponents. While the Ramblers fought valiantly and came close in many games, they seemed to fall short. The Ramblers ended their season 3-13 in the PAC and 8-16 overall. Of their 16 games the Ramblers lost, 7 of them were by 10 points or less.

As a team, the Ramblers averaged 58.3 points a game, while their opponents had a slightly higher 61.3 average. The Ramblers were strong on the line shooting 66.3 percent (354 for 534), higher than their 2005-2006 season percentage of 63 (240 for 378). They also out shot their opponents in field goal percentage with 38.9 to their opponents 37.9.

Leading the Ramblers this year in scoring was Linder. She averaged 18.6 points per game leading the team and the PAC. She also led the team in rebounds (164) and blocks (32). She was named the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference Player of the Week Honorable Mention twice during the season. Saunders was second in team scoring with 338 points (14.7 avg). She had 86 steals (3.58 avg) which was first in the team and the conference. Also giving a strong performance this year was junior Andrea Boyle (Swarthmore, PA/Cardinal O'Hara). Boyle had 297 points this season (12.4 avg). She was first on the team in free throw percentage with 81.6 (71 for 87).

The Ramblers say goodbye to three seniors: Linder, Saunders and Jen Wood (Philadelphia, PA/Archbishop Ryan). Losing these three is a hard loss for the Ramblers, but they will look to build around their strong core of returners. Boyle, Jordan Moon (Wilmington, DE/ Sanford School), Maragarita Rodrigo (Branchville, NJ/High Point Regional), Jessica Williams (Ardmore, PA/Archbishop Carroll), Katie Ayers (Birdsboro, PA/Twin Valley), Adriann Demchenko (Philadelphia, PA/George Washington), and Lisa Levin (Vineland, NJ/Vineland) will all be looked at to pick up where the three seniors left off.
