The curriculum in the study of the history of art at Rosemont College is dually based: on the historical study and formal appreciation of the painting, sculpture, architecture, and decorative arts of the period at hand, as well as on the introduction and analysis of various methods of interpretation. Integral to this endeavor is the senior capstone course, "History of Art Criticism" (ARH-075), which leads an historiographical investigation of the principles and methods involved in writing about art from antiquity through the twentieth century. On-site and experiential learning is emphasized in all history of art courses with travel abroad, museum visits, and internships integral to the major.A Sampling of Recent Art History Courses:
"The Italian Moderns: Futurism and Cuisine"
"Painted Ladies: Women of the Ancient World"
"Women and African-American Art"
