Degree Requirements

Major Requirements for a B.A. in English, English Literature Track

In addition to meeting the course requirements for each respective major, all students must also fulfill the General Education requirements for the Undergraduate College. The Bachelor of Arts degree in English requires 120 credits.

Student may apply six credits in their major towards General Education requirements.

*Students who choose ENC-0300 Publication, must hold an editorial position for The Thorn, The Rambler, or The Cornelian.

Six English Electives 18 credits

Six English electives are required, at least two electives must be above the 200-level. With the mentor’s approval, students may also take a course in creative writing as an elective.

In addition to these course requirements, senior English majors must successfully complete the senior comprehensive requirements.

Recommended Supporting Courses

Students will meet with their mentors, spring semester of their junior year, to discuss complementary or supporting courses they will need to take to support their senior requirements.

Electives

The remaining credit hours are electives and can consist of English courses, but should not be limited to those particular disciplines.
