Painter and Rosemont College graduate publishing student Karen Kappe Nugent, is a finalist in the Art of the State: Pennsylvania. The exhibition is recognized as the official statewide-juried competition for Pennsylvania artists. It is the 46th year for this prestigious exhibit. Nugent's oil painting, titled “Winter Tea in Kennett,” is one of only 137 pieces selected from 1,933 entries to the competition.
The exhibit opens to the public on Sunday, June 23, at The State Museum of Pennsylvania. It runs through Sept. 8 and includes 137 works of art by 131 artists from 31 counties.
Prizes will be awarded at a special Artists’ Reception to be held Saturday, June 22 at The State Museum. The winners will be announced via Twitter @PHMC at 7 p.m., immediately following the awards ceremony.
