Three Men's Basketball Seniors Recognized

Three Rosemont College seniors were honored February 11 at the last Rosemont home basketball game of the season. Derrick Carter, Justin Chaney and Tremell Green were on Rosemont’s premiere men’s basketball team, which took the court for the first time on November 19, 2009 (after the college went co-ed). The players will be remembered as the first graduating seniors who played men’s basketball for Rosemont for the first four years of the program’s history.

At guard, from Williamstown High School in Williamstown, NJ, #1, Justin Chaney. Chaney, a business major, led the Ravens in scoring, assists and 3-point baskets in the 2010/2011 season, led in assists and treys in the 2011/2012 season and led the team in 3-point baskets in its initial season of 2009/2010. Chaney is the first man to break into Rosemont’s 1,000-point club, with 1,031 total points. He is currently ranked 4th in the CSAC in 3-point field goal shooting percentage. Chaney has also been named to CSAC All-Sportsmanship Team.

At forward, from Millville High School in Port Norris, NJ, #12, Derrick Carter who is an education major. Carter’s collegiate basketball career blossomed this season, as he is currently ranked 2nd in the CSAC and leading his team in scoring, averaging 17.2 points per game. He also leads the Ravens in rebounds, pulling down over six boards per game and is 8th in the CSAC in field goal shooting percentage and 3-point field goal shooting percentage. Carter also leads this year’s team in blocks and is 4th in the conference in blocks and is close to the team lead in steals. He was most recently named to the All-CSAC Second Team.

At forward, from BOK Tech in Philadelphia, PA, #23, Tremell Green. Green, an education major, ramped up his game last season and was a key ingredient in the Raven’s run to their first post-season tournament. He has continued his great shooting, hitting on 49 percent of his field goal attempts this season. Last season Green finished 2nd on the team in rebounds. He averaged 9.3 points and 6.4 rebounds per game in the 2010/2011 season.
