August 2011 - Rosemont College continues to expand as the fall semester approaches, boosting undergraduate enrollment by approximately 15 percent for first-year students and 22 percent for transfer students compared to 2010. It promises to be an exciting year as two new athletics teams, women’s soccer and men’s lacrosse, are introduced. The College will also mark its 90th anniversary and highlight its mission to serve as a “community of learners.”
New Student Orientation will take place August 20 to 27. Key dates include:
Saturday, August 20: First-year student move-in day. Check-in and registration will be held from 8 to 11 a.m. In the afternoon, new students and family members will have the opportunity to attend information sessions on topics ranging from financial aid, to public safety, to service learning opportunities.
Monday, August 22: Move-in day for returning students living on campus.
Tuesday, August 23: Convocation Ceremony featuring Cap and Gown, 2:00 p.m., McShain Performing Arts Center. This special tradition celebrates the start of the academic year and formally welcomes new students to Rosemont. Dr. Aikaterini Skokotas, associate professor of biology, will deliver the faculty address.
