August 2011 - Rosemont College is pleased to name Dr. Dennis R. Dougherty as Dean of the Schools of Graduate and Professional Studies. With nearly 20 years experience working in higher education, particularly with adult students, Dr. Dougherty will oversee Rosemont’s graduate, accelerated undergraduate, and certificate programs.
“I am confident Dr. Dougherty will serve our graduate and professional students, faculty members, and staff well,” said President Sharon Latchaw Hirsh, Ph.D. ’70. “I look forward to working with him as we continue to enhance and expand our offerings for adult students.”
The Schools of Graduate and Professional Studies have grown steadily since being established in 1986 and 1994 respectively. Approximately 500 students are currently enrolled in programs including counseling psychology, business, education, and creative writing. Courses are offered at the college’s main campus, at Rosemont Downtown in center city Philadelphia, and online.
Prior to this appointment, Dr. Dougherty served since 2008 as Interim Dean for Graduate and Professional Studies at Cabrini College, where he was responsible for managing four on-campus academic programs and twenty-three off-campus sites. Before starting his tenure at Cabrini in 2000, he worked as director of the Weekend Program at Arcadia University and was an adjunct faculty member at Philadelphia University.
Dougherty succeeds the interim appointment of Associate Professor Paulette Hutchinson. His first day at Rosemont will be Monday, September 12.
