A Season of Giving: How We Can Help

Posted: November 6, 2013

As the holiday season approaches, we look forward to giving thanks, reflecting on our blessings, and celebrating with family and friends. These months are also a time to think of those in need and the ways we can provide support. With this in mind, the Rosemont College Alumni Association asks for your help as we begin our annual Thanksgiving Food Drive and Christmas Gift Drive.

Thanksgiving Food Drive
This year’s Thanksgiving Food Drive will benefit St. Francis Inn Ministries, a center located in North Philadelphia that runs services such as a day center for women, an overnight men's shelter, and a thrift store. Acceptable items include non-perishables such as canned vegetables, canned or dried fruit, applesauce, cereal, rice, pasta, soup, canned tuna, peanut butter, canned meals, etc.

Alumni volunteers will be collecting donations at Super Fresh in center city Philadelphia (located at 10th & South Streets) on Sunday, November 17 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Donations may also be dropped off on Rosemont’s campus at any time between now and Friday, November 22 in the vestibule of Immaculate Conception Chapel.

Christmas Gift Drive
Each year, Rosemont alumni host an Epiphany Party for students from the Providence Center, many of whom are without gifts at the holidays. Founded in 1993 by SHCJ sisters, the Providence Center works to engage children and adults in educational opportunities within the Fairhill/West Kensington community of north Philadelphia.

To support the Epiphany Party, alumni may donate:

  • Christmas gifts
  • Art supplies
  • Financial contributions to help offset transportation costs

Donations toward the Epiphany Party may be made any time between now and Monday, January 6, 2014. To select a student or make a gift, please click here.
