Justin Snow Exhibit Opens October 3

Lawrence Gallery is pleased to announce a new exhibit featuring the paintings of Justin Snow. “SNOW ACCUMULATION” will be on display October 3 to 31, 2013. An opening reception will take place October 3 from 4:00 to 6:30 p.m., with an artist’s talk at 4:30 p.m. and is free and open to all.

Snow describes his paintings as, “They’re all abstract explorations in the beginning; question marks.” He continues to explain, “The meager splashing, scrawled, scribbled beginnings rarely reflect the finished product. It would seem that the freedom producing materials themselves allow the journey to reach a previously unseen destination.”

Roberta Fallon, co-founder of theartblog.org, teacher, editor and critic, said of Justin Snow’s work “...his paintings reflect the shifting moods of life lived on this planet. Some of Snow’s paintings whisper and some shout.”

Snow seems to be on a constant exploration, an exploration with no end in sight; a questioning...a question to which the only possible answer is to be found not at the end of the journey but at the beginning. That was fun. That was interesting... let’s start again.

Timothy Hawkesworth an internationally recognized painter and charismatic teacher said of Snow’s work, “He does not theorize. He paints. In the silence that comes with paint he lives out the hungers and fears, joys and despairs that make up his experience of life. These restless, vibrant paintings are a living record of his journey.”

To quote Roberta Fallon again, “Snow’s paintings satisfy the human thirst for communication, touch, and the play of the mind.”

Snow attended the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and the Philadelphia Museum College of Art (now known as The University of the Arts) earning an Associate’s Degree in Industrial Design. Snow is currently the Director of the Pagus Gallery in The Norristown Arts Building, curating and hanging 6-7 shows a year.

Snow has exhibited his work at the Main Line Art Center, PA., Wayne Art Center, Wayne, PA., Plum Gallery, Williamstown, MA, Gallery Siano, Philadelphia, PA, Concord Art Gallery, Concord, PA., Third Street Gallery, Philadelphia, PA. , Ryan John Gallery, Northern Liberties, Philadelphia, PA, and Pagus Gallery, Norristown, PA.
