Safety Committee of Rosemont College is pleased to report the following:
- Upon completion of several requirements, the Safety Committee of the College has been granted certification by the Department of Labor and Industry. This certification affords several benefits to the College including a financial one.
- Lower Merion Police were on campus on April 16 to direct a “table-top” discussion of emergency preparedness. This program was effective in attaining its goal of increased awareness on campus.
- Several new committee members have been added to the committee, which now has two categories of membership, which is required by the PA Department of Labor. They are employer representatives, employee representatives and guests.

Safety and Repair Projects:
- New hand-rails have been installed at the entrance to McShain Auditorium
- Safety signs have been placed near the ponds on campus
- The parking places near Heffernan Hall will be painted this summer
- Other important painting projects will be completed as well

Jeff Eckel of Lackawanna Insurance also participates at the committee meetings.
The Safety Committee is fulfilling requirements to be certified by the PA Dept of Labor and Industry which affords many benefits to the College.

Recent Campus Safety Improvements
Good News!
- Alumnae Hall has a complete new fire alarm system installed and Mayfield Hall had the fire alarm panel upgraded
- Safety emergency blue lights and phones have been installed at the ends of the campus boundaries near the Wendover Avenue exit and near the tennis courts
- Automatic External Defibrillators (AED) have been placed in Heffernan Hall office, Alumnae Hall, Cardinal Hall, and in the Public Safety vehicle
- Public safety staff have been trained in the use of AED and in CPR as well as in First Aid
Safety Reminders:
- Stay off the icy ponds on campus.
- Walk on the paths, not the grassy areas.
- Contact the committee members regarding any safety concerns or situations on campus that need attention.
