Alumni Board Update: Fall 2012
Posted October 10, 2012
The Alumni Board of Directors held its first meeting of the new academic year on Saturday, September 15th. We gathered on campus to induct four new members, and welcome back sixteen returning members.
President Sharon Latchaw Hirsh, Ph.D. ’70 shared updates with us on enrollment and the College’s current capital campaign. Thanks to a $5 million gift from an anonymous alumna, two exciting capital projects are set to begin in summer 2013: a new athletic complex and phase one of renovations to Cardinal Hall to create a large community center.
We heard more from Rennie Andrews, Assistant Vice President for the Campaign. To date, the Campaign has raised more than $20 million towards its $40 million goal. We also received additional information on enrollment and retention. Compared to the previous year, the College’s retention rate saw a noteworthy increase.
We then met in smaller breakout groups to discuss our plans for the upcoming year, which will focus on supporting the College’s efforts around enrollment and the Campaign. We will assist the Office of Admissions by accompanying counselors to fairs and school programs this fall. We will continue to spread the word about the positive things happening at Rosemont, and work to build engagement throughout our alumni community. And of course, we will honor exemplary alumni with our annual awards during Reunion this June.
Other Alumni Board activities during the weekend included a Friday evening reception with student leaders, and mingling at the Alumni Beer Garden and Class of 2007 five-year reunion during Fall Festival on Saturday afternoon. We enjoyed getting to know quite a few current students and hearing about their experiences at Rosemont. It was also a lot of fun to catch up with fellow alumni who returned to campus for the weekend’s events.
The Alumni Board welcomes feedback and would love to hear from you. Please send any ideas, questions, or feedback to firstname.lastname@example.org. Best wishes for a wonderful year.
