Their knowledge, talent and commitment have provided this country with a legacy of impressive institutions, foundations and societies. We will learn about men like Theodore Thomas, called the father of American orchestras; John Knowles Paine, who was America’s first composer of note and creator of the pattern for music departments in our colleges and universities; great virtuoso performer and composer, Edward MacDowell and many others.
