Spotila is the Betz Chair Professor of Environmental Science Department of Biodiversity, Earth, and Environmental Science.

Holocaust, Genocide, & Ethnic Cleansing in the Balkans

Location: Rotwitt Theater

A native of Yugoslavia, Religious Studies professor Dr. Paul Mojzes offers new insights into the Balkan genocides, including a look at the unique role of ethnoreligiosity in these events and a characterization of the first and second Balkan wars as mutual genocides. Mojzes also looks to the region's future, discussing the ongoing trials at the International Criminal Tribunal in Yugoslavia and the prospects for dealing with the lingering issues between Balkan nations and different religions.

Sponsored by the Institute for Ethical Leadership and Social Responsibility at Rosemont College.

  • Registration begins at 2 p.m. in front of the Gertrude Kistler Library. Registration fee will be collected at this time. Run begins at 3 p.m.
  • $5 registration fee - $7 if you need a t-shirt
  • The run is one mile around campus. Maps will be available and the route will be distinguished with arrows and flags
  • Cornstarch is used to create the color, so you or your clothes will not be stained. Hoses will be available after the run to rinse yourself.
