Registration
In order to register, students must contact their undergraduate advisor by phone or email. At the time of registration, students must know which course they want the Special Topics to replace (see replacement courses listed above). Once registered, a student can only cancel a registration through on-time submission of a Drop/Withdrawal form. The SGPS policy on drop/withdrawal procedures and fees applies to Special Topics courses. Registration will close three days prior to the course start date.
Once registered, students should obtain a copy of the course module/itinerary available on the iWay in the Module section. Students are responsible for reviewing the itinerary's contents prior to the start of the course.
Minimum Class Size
Special Topics require a minimum enrollment of five (5) students. If fewer than five students register, the course will be cancelled and students will be notified by phone or email prior to the start date of the course.
Attendance
Students must attend the entire Special Topics weekend to receive credit for the course. If absences are anticipated, students should not register. Facilitators will issue grade penalties for any lateness or absences incurred.
Books & Assignments
Typically, Special Topics courses may or may not require the use of textbooks (the module will list textbooks should they be required). Several assignments will be required and these assignments will be outlined in the course itinerary available on the iWay in the Undergraduate Module section. Assignments generally consist of two article analyses due in class on Saturday and Sunday, and a final paper due 10 days later. Attendance and participation are also factored into a student's grade.
Location
Specific locations will be posted in the course itinerary.
Cost
Special Topic courses are billed at the current rate of undergraduate tuition.
