Meet Your Professor: Mia Solomon
"I like the intimacy of the Rosemont community."
Mia Solomon, Ph.D., Schools of Graduate and Professional Studies, Assistant Professor of Counseling Psychology, is a licensed Psychologist in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and is certified in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy by the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Solomon received her bachelor's degree, master's degree, and Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania and currently works at Bryn Mawr Hospital. Since 1988, Dr. Solomon has had a private practice in Havertown, Pennsylvania and Marlton, New Jersey.
What attracted you to Rosemont?
MS: I like the intimacy of the Rosemont community. There is an opportunity to build a community with one’s students and fellow faculty, to feel an influence and an investment one might not have in a larger, more impersonal institution.
What is your favorite Rosemont class to teach and why?
MS: I enjoy each one of my classes for different reasons: Practicum; as it gives me a chance to review clinical material with students; Family Counseling; a class that reviews process, guides students in self-discovery about their families of origin, and teaches theory; Cognitive-Behavioral, as it teaches a practical approach to common psychological problems.
