All applicants to the School of Graduate Studies must have completed an undergraduate degree from an accredited 4-year college or university. Formal admission to any program of graduate study is granted only after all admissions materials have been received and reviewed, and all standards have been met.

Counseling Psychology
Admission Requirements for the Master's Degree Program
Applicants for the Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology must hold a Bachelor's degree from an accredited 4-year college or university, preferably with a major in psychology or a closely related discipline and a GPA of 3.0 or higher (some exceptions may apply).
Prerequisites: All candidates for admission must have had a major in psychology OR satisfactorily completed the following college-level psychology courses: 1) Introduction to Psychology, 2) Personality, and 3) Statistics. Candidates seeking Certification in School Counseling must have completed 2 college-level courses in English (one in composition and one in literature) and 2 college-level courses in mathematics as required by the Pennsylvania Department of Education. The courses must be at the 100 level or above, and cannot be remedial classes. Math courses must fulfill the general education mathematics requirement. A grade of C- or higher is required for these undergraduate classes. The Pennsylvania Department of Education allows advanced placement (AP) credits or successful completion of a College-Level Examination Program (CLEP) examination as fulfillment of the undergraduate prerequisites in math and English. Acceptable CLEP examinations include college mathematics, college algebra, English literature, and English composition.
Application materials may be obtained from the Office of Graduate Admissions. Before the Admissions Committee can make its decision, applications must be complete and include:

Candidates seeking the Addictions Counselor Certificate must have earned a Master's degree in psychology, counseling, or a closely related field.

Creative Writing
All applicants must hold a bachelor's degree from an accredited 4-year college or university, preferably with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Before the Admissions Committee can make its decision, applications must be complete and include:
1. Application form, including an Artist's Statement, detailing your writing philosophy and your aims in earning an MFA in Creative Writing 2. Official transcripts for all previous undergraduate (and graduate) studies 3. Non-refundable application fee of $50.00 (check or money order made payable to Rosemont College) 4. Three letters of recommendation (at least one should address the student's writing ability), preferably from former professors and/or professional colleagues or supervisors (please avoid obtaining letters from family or personal friends) 5. A writing sample is the major focus of the admissions review process for the MFA program. The applicant should submit three copies of a creative writing sample in his or her genre of interest. For fiction and creative non-fiction, please submit a minimum of 20 manuscript pages; for poetry, please submit a minimum of 6 poems. 6. For applicants whose native language is not English, official copies of TOEFL examination scores are also required.

Admission Requirements for the Master's Degree Programs Applicants for the Master's degree must hold a bachelor's degree from an accredited 4-year college or university, preferably with a GPA of 3.0 or higher (some exceptions may apply).

Candidates seeking Elementary Certification must have completed the following additional prerequisites at the college level: Basic Psychology, Laboratory Science (including coverage of environmental studies), and American History. Any deficiency in prerequisites may be fulfilled while candidates are enrolled in the program.
