Congratulations, Rosemont Class of 2009!
Lisa Thomas-Laury, television news journalist at WPVI-TV Philadelphia, delivered the 86th Commencement address at Rosemont College on Saturday, May 16 2009. The College awarded 144 undergraduate bachelor degrees and 139 graduate degrees. Ms. Thomas-Laury was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Human Letters by the Board of Trustees.
Smiles, hugs, and a few tears were seen at the reception after the Commencement ceremony on Alumnae Terrace as the Class of 2009 left their alma mater to begin the next chapter of their lives. Congratulations to all our new graduates!

I can imagine many of you are going through the same transition my oldest son went through four years ago when he graduated and what my youngest son is going through as he prepares to graduate tomorrow at the University of Virginia, in Charlottesville and yes I can even presume you might be feeling some of what I was feeling many, many years ago, when I sat on a lawn, similar to this one, in anticipation of my own college graduation.

Good afternoon to our honored guest, Lisa Thomas-Laury, members of the Board of Trustees, President Hirsh, administrators, faculty members, family, friends, and fellow graduates.
In thinking about how to best address today's theme - trust in and reverence for the dignity of each person - I thought back to Rosemont's Alternative Spring Break program, in which I participated this year. A small group of undergraduate women, two ministry leaders, and I, flew to Los Angeles to be in service to schools in low-income urban neighborhoods.
Bridget Cook, Undergraduate College
Good afternoon to our honored guest, Lisa Thomas-Laury, members of the board of trustees, President Hirsh, administrators, faculty members, family, friends and fellow graduates.
As many of you know, each year, Rosemont College chooses a theme from the mission statement, written by Cornelia Connelly, the founder of the Society of the Holy Child Jesus. This year, our theme focuses on "trust in and reverence for the dignity of each person."
