Founders' Day Awards

The Founders' Day Awards honor the students dedicated to Rosemont through service and community involvement. The award descriptions, eligibility requirements, and selection criteria are listed below. Nominations can be submitted using the links provided in each award description.

Any Rosemont student, faculty member, administrator, or staff member may nominate students who are felt to be qualified to receive an award. Nominators will be asked to provide evidence of the contributions or the character of the nominee which best qualifies the student to receive an award. The Student Life Awards Committee makes the final selection.

Submission Deadline: 11:59 p.m. April 5, 2013.

The Patti K. McClatchy Award

CRITERIA FOR SELECTION
The award is presented to the student who has, by his/her example of personal achievement, typified the spirit and courage of Patti K. McClatchy (Class of ’77).

This award honors the memory of a young woman who was determined to live every minute of life with enthusiasm and will to succeed at what she set out to achieve. Her courage, spirit, generosity and determination along with her warmth and friendliness served as an inspiration for future Rosemont students. 

ELIGIBILITY : Any current JUNIOR or SENIOR is eligible.

The Ethel C. Levenson Leadership Award

CRITERIA FOR SELECTION
This award is presented to the JUNIOR who has demonstrated
leadership and service to his/her fellow students and the college over a three year period in appointed, elected or volunteer positions.

ELIGIBILITY : Any current JUNIOR is eligible.

The Outstanding Service Award

CRITERIA FOR SELECTION
The Outstanding Service Award is presented annually to the student who has demonstrated outstanding leadership and service to his/her fellow students and the College in appointed, elected or volunteer positions. The recipient is recognized as having made a significant contribution to co-curricular life at Rosemont College.

ELIGIBILITY : Any current student is eligible.

The Class Leadership Award

CRITERIA FOR SELECTION
Established in 1997, the Class Leadership Award is presented to one student in each class (freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior) who has played a significant role in student government and/or has fostered class spirit, unity, and community responsibility. The name of the recipient is announced on Founders' Day, and is engraved on a permanent plaque. 

ELIGIBILITY: Any current student is eligible.

Club of the Year Award

CRITERIA FOR SELECTION
Established in 1986, the Club of the Year Award is to be presented annually to a student club or organization which most exemplifies the Rosemont spirit, through educational and social activities for club members and the Rosemont community. The club is announced on Founders’ Day and club name is engraved on a permanent plaque.

ELIGIBILITY: Any recognized student organization, which has upheld the mission and purpose of the club and has satisfactory club status. Clubs must be active for at least 1 full academic year prior to being eligible.

CRITERIA FOR SELECTION
The Dean of Students Award is presented to one student in each class (freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior) who has made significant contributions to the community and who exemplifies the College's mission and spirit as a community of learners dedicated to excellence and joy in the pursuit of knowledge. Nominees should be guided by one or more of the Rosemont College values:
- trust in and reverence for the dignity of each person
- diversity in human culture and experience
- persistence and courage in the promoting justice with compassion

The Love In Action Award (sponsored by Campus Ministry)

CRITERIA FOR SELECTION:
The Love in Action Award is presented to an undergraduate student in recognition of his or her spiritual gifts and maturity that he or she has shared for the betterment of the Rosemont College Community and the greater community through his or her involvement with Campus Ministry and through his or her dedication to Cornelia Connelly’s request to have a “love full of action” in all of their commitments and interactions.
 
- Demonstrates emotional, intellectual & spiritual maturity
- Dedication to Rosemont College’s Mission
- Involvement in Campus Ministry Initiatives (one or more of the following)
  • Liturgical Ministry
  • Weekly Service and Other service projects
  • Alternative Break Trips
  • Retreats
  • Social Justice and Advocacy Programs
ELIGIBILITY: Any current student is eligible.
