Cover Story

Welcome to RoCo!

Spring is in the air! It is so close, we can almost taste it. Be- fore we know it, Rosemont’s campus will be awash in budding trees and blooming daffodils, our colorful Adirondack chairs will reappear, and our campus geese will be followed around by their goslings. And with the arrival of spring to campus comes the flurry of events and activities that make up the second semester – Founders’ Week, the Petaltones’ Annual Concert, Academic Honors Day, the Institute’s Symposium, the lacrosse and softball seasons, the Spring Formal, the Rose Mass and Luncheon for Alumni, and much more.

The second semester will culminate in the College’s 95th Commencement Ceremony on Saturday, May 12th. No other day on campus is quite like Commencement. It is a day in which the College celebrates the academic achievements of all of our graduates from the Undergraduate College and the Schools of Graduate and Professional Studies. It is a day when our smiles are a little broader, our hearts beat a little faster, and our tears come a little quicker. It is a day for family pic- tures. It is a day for prayers of relief and prayers of gratitude. It is a day for balloons, bouquets of flowers, and champagne. It is a day when we are sad because it is over, but joyful because it has just begun. It is a day when each graduate who processes across the stage to accept their diploma from President Hirsh is a living example of the POWER of small. It is a day when we collectively declare that our graduates are Rosemont Made and Rosemont Proud.

This issue of RoCo highlights the many ways the members of the Rosemont College community are Rosemont Made and Rosemont Proud, not just at Commencement, but all year long!
