Resident Assistants (RA) are student leaders who coordinate educational programs and fun activities. There is a Resident Assistant on duty every night to assist in monitoring the safety and security of the building. There is an RA located on most floors of each residence hall. It is the responsibility of the RA to plan activities/programs that foster an atmosphere of community within the hall that will in turn enhance the lives of the residents. The RA is expected to be available to students and to encourage them to become an active member of the residence hall community.
In addition, the RA facilitates the development of a positive and safe living environment. The RA assists the Assistant Director of Residence Life or Residence Director in providing for the safety of each individual resident through specific procedures such as fire drills, incident reports, assigned duty days/weekends, and hall openings and closings.
