St. Francis Inn St. Francis is located in North Philadelphia and runs services such as a day center for women, over night men's shelter, and thrift store. Twice a month we offer students the opportunity to volunteer their time and talents for the afternoon serving dinner in the soup kitchen. Depending on the time of year St. Francis serves as many 300-500 persons per day! Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week In conjunction with the National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week, Campus Ministry provides a series of events as well as an array of spiritual and volunteer opportunities for the Rosemont Community to participate in through out the course of our awareness week. This week of events is intended to help further educate those at Rosemont on the issues of hunger, homelessness, and poverty that affect the lives of those around us on a local, national and international level. For further information on the National Campaign please click here. Martin Luther King Day of Service In honor of MLK Day, the Rosemont students, staff and faculty volunteer in the local community for "a day on, not off!" This past January Campus Ministry, with the help of the Greater Philadelphia Cares program, spent the day in service at a Philadelphia School painting hallways and murals. Service Saturdays In response to an overwhelming number of students that couldn't do service on weekdays because of class and work schedules, Campus Ministry created an opportunity to spend one Saturday every month participating in volunteer experiences around Philadelphia. Service Saturday trips include: Books Through Bars, the 5K Walk/Run for Ovarian Cancer, and the St. Francis Inn Soup Kitchen. A new line up of Service Saturday projects are in the process of forming for the Fall 2008 and Spring 2009 semesters. |
