 In the summer of 1832, fifty seven Irish immigrant laborers died of violence and cholera while building mile 59 of the Philadelphia and Columbia Railroad near present-day Malvern, in what may be the worst mass murder in Pennsylvania history. For sixteen years, the Duffy’s Cut Project has sought to shed light on this 186-year-old tragedy.
