Mission of the Institute

Our Mission:

To promote the study and teaching of ethics, leadership, and social responsibility with a view to fostering moral awareness and ethical engagement throughout the Rosemont community and beyond.

The Institute serves to encourage an increased awareness of the ethical issues arising in people’s everyday personal and professional lives, and to support initiatives promoting moral reasoning and action, leadership and engagement, and service to the College and the greater community.  In implementing its mission, the Institute will:

  • Expand opportunities for ethical reflection, deliberation, and action across the curriculum and throughout campus life;
  • Sponsor curricular innovation, faculty research initiatives, publications, lectures, symposia, and conferences;
  • Develop relations with regional and national partners committed to addressing ethical issues of public concern; and
  • Advance the mission of the College by incorporating the Catholic intellectual tradition and the educational philosophy of the Society of the Holy Child Jesus into its work.
