Student Speaker Invitation

Please note: the application deadline is Friday, March 20.
Selected students will be notified in early April.

All members of the graduating class of 2015 of the Undergraduate College and the Schools of Graduate and Professional Studies, who meet the academic criteria detailed below, are encouraged to apply to be considered as a student commencement speaker at the May 9, 2015 ceremony.

Three student speakers - one representing each of Rosemont's schools - will be selected by a Committee composed of the president, vice president for mission, the academic deans of both schools and the commencement committee chair.

Eligibility Requirements

  • 3.5 GPA or higher
  • All graduation requirements completed by May 2015
  • In good standing with the College (neither academic nor non-academic probation)
  • No "I" grades on transcript 

*Eligible candidates are required to submit a typed, three-minute speech that focuses on a theme drawn from Rosemont's mission statement, which is: "Rosemont College is rooted in Catholicism, welcomes all faiths, and is guided by the educational principles of Cornelia Connelly and the Society of the Holy Child Jesus."

*Along with a speech, each candidate is required to submit a written faculty or facilitator recommendation to the Office of the President no later than Friday, March 20. No late submissions will be considered.

The committee will rate all speeches anonymously. If several speeches from each school receive high rankings, the final selection will be made on the basis of grade point average and service to the College.
